Hello! My name is Tony, and I am raising funds in the hopes of helping my friend and teammate Jurgen West after our van was robbed during our 2025 Hood to Coast Relay Race. Jurgen unfortunately suffered heavy losses, losing his entire backpack that contained his work/personal computer, work iPad, wallet (ID and credit cards), running shoes & clothing, and apartment keys. Insurance (as it usually goes) has not helped or provided any assistance, leaving Jurgen to make up these losses on his own.

For context, Jurgen is a self-employed iPhone Repair Specialist and relies on his computer to provide services for the community and sustain his own livelihood. He has been a part of both the Portland and running communities for several years, participating across multiple run groups, all the while being a friendly and supportive presence in the community. He actively encourages others and has personally motivated me to become more involved in running again. Jurgen loves running, and for years he has enjoyed participating across various teams at Hood to Coast. While robberies are far and wide, this one left an especially scarring effect as this occurred in the middle of his Hood to Coast race near OMSI.

Hood to Coast has always been both a competition and celebration of our Portland Running community. It's an event that has allowed countless teams to support one another as they strive to reach the finish line. It represents the unrelenting dedication and companionship we as a community have to push one another to do the impossible. It's why when faced with the decision of either quitting to find the criminals or continue the race, Jurgen chose to continue onward. He chose to continue running with our team with the hopes of being made somewhat whole after the ordeal. However, insurance offered no help, leaving him on his own to recoup all his loses....

This is why I am reaching out to you all for help. Too often we see people fall to the wayside when things get rough. Let's give a member of our community a chance at continuing his livelihood.
