Juniper is our beloved six-year-old tuxedo cat. She has developed multiple tumors along one mammary chain, and one of the tumors has ulcerated. She was seen urgently on August 18 and is now receiving antibiotics and wound care, but those measures cannot treat the underlying tumors.
Her veterinarian wants to perform cancer staging immediately. This testing will include bloodwork, a fine-needle aspirate reviewed by a pathologist, chest X-rays, and interpretation by a radiologist. The purpose is to determine whether the disease has spread and whether Juniper can safely undergo the mastectomy she needs.
The staging estimate is $1,240.37, and we are trying to raise that amount within the next 48 hours. After 48 hours, it will be $1,338.37. Her veterinarian was prepared to perform the testing immediately, but we did not have enough money to proceed.
We have already paid $258.96 for her urgent examination, antibiotics, wound cleaning, and medical supplies. If staging shows that Juniper is a surgical candidate, her doctor expects removal of the affected mammary chain to cost approximately $2,500.
Histopathology, post-surgical treatment and meds are estimated $500.
We will receive a formal surgical estimate after the staging results are available.
Our current fundraising goal is $5,000:
$1,240.37 for urgent staging and diagnostic testing
Approximately $2,500 for her mastectomy
Estimated post-surgical care and histopathology = $500
Juniper is only six years old. At this time, the tumors appear confined to one mammary chain, so we want to give her every reasonable chance before the disease has more time to progress.
Any donation will help us move her testing forward. If you cannot donate, please share Juniper’s fundraiser. We will post her veterinary documents with our personal information removed and provide updates after her testing, staging results, surgical estimate, and treatment.
If more is raised than Juniper ultimately needs, the additional funds will be used for her continuing veterinary care and cancer treatment.
Thank you for helping us fight for Juniper.
