Hi, my name is Kaitlin and I am fundraising for my neighbor, Virgil AKA Junior. Junior’s garage caught fire around 4am, Wednesday, April 10. He lost everything in his garage, including his truck that he has spent the last 25+ years fixing up and several pieces of equipment (mowers, leaf blowers, pressure washers etc) that he was storing and working on for neighbors. Junior’s homeowners insurance will cover most of the cost to rebuild the garage and the contents (tools, machinery etc.) that belonged to Junior, but they will not cover his truck or the equipment that belonged to other people. Just one of the mowers lost in the fire costs over $14,000. Junior estimates he has put about $40,000 into his truck in the time he’s had it. He recently put in a new engine and was planning to gift the truck to his great grandson when he turned 16. Junior is the type of person who never asks anyone for anything, but is ALWAYS willing to help those in need. He’s the type of neighbor that will offer to loan you a tool for yard work and then end up doing the work for you, without being asked (yes, this happened recently and it is not the first time!). Just recently on my way home, the car in front of me got a flat tire. I pulled up next to the driver to see if she needed help and she said “I’m not from here, is there anyone you know who would be willing to come change my tire for me?”. I called Junior and he was there in less than 10 minutes. Not only did he change her tire, he had her drive over to his garage where he patched the tire for her, as well. These are just 2 examples of the countless acts of kindness Junior displays on a daily basis. The money raised here will go toward’s replacing his truck (which will eventually be gifted to his great grandson) and the equipment that his insurance did not cover. If you are able, please help Junior in his time of need, as he is always willing to help others!
