In July this year, 2 days after her birthday, our beloved Mum, June was
diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, more specifically Bulbar Onset ALS.
These past 4.5 months have been a nightmare, but whilst Mum was devastated
initially, she picked herself up and has chosen to use this as a way to heal herself
from the inside out. I am completely in awe of my Mum and her attitude.
Her #1 drive is to see her grandkids grow up, and she'll be damned if she'll let
something like an MND diagnosis stand in her way!
Those of you who know Mum, know that she does things with heart and soul;
whether it’s loving us, her friends, learning languages, working, studying,
teaching, playing music...and she’s always been so loving to our friends too
(many of mine still remember the little notes and smiley faces she'd leave on their lunch order bags when she worked in the canteen :) She has given so much for so
long. Now, and for the next couple of years, she needs to focus on getting well.
THE EXCITING NEWS:
Mum is able to take BOTH of the only approved drugs for ALS in Australia as well as two fully vetted, science-based protocols; the combination of which is having
amazing results!

As with many serious/mysterious conditions, it takes a multi-pronged approach to heal. A combination of all available medicines and treatments, clean organic diet, exercise, acupuncture, chiro, kinesiology, speech therapy, meditation, yoga and
resting as much as possible is what is currently helping Mum.
Due to the nature of this condition, it’s imperative to act early, act fast and to be
consistent which is why we're reaching out for help.
We want to be able to throw everything we have at it and Mum's medicines alone cost $172.50 per week. Add to that; food, rent, carer hours, the treatments listed above (…and babycino’s for the grandkids) it becomes more than most people
could afford.
We’ve been so fortunate to be able to move Mum and Dad to Sydney to be
closer to us. Sadly, Mum had to give up her job, which she loved and which also
brought home the bacon. As many of you know, Mum cares for our beloved 89
year old dad, Mike, and, although done with love (mostly hehe – they’ve been
married 43 years!) they just both need more support at this time.
There are also non-monetary ways in which you can show support. Any
