Help JUMP START Braxton's 2022 Mushing season

Donation protected

Hello-

I am Braxton Peterson. I have found my way back to my dog mushing passion after a 10-year life detour.  I have been mushing dogs since Jr High School learning and earning my way with the champion of the Yukon Quest and The Iditarod, Lance Mackey.  While learning, growing, and training with Lance at Mackey's Comeback Kennel, I handled the dogs and ran puppy teams in the off-seasons until Lance moved the team to Fairbanks where he felt that his career as a Champion could develop. Lance went on to win The Iditarod in  2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 as well as the Yukon Quest in 2007 and 2008. Winning BOTH 1000 mile races, the Yukon Quest (Feb) and The Iditarod (March) just 1 week between them, back-to-back, in 2007 and 2008 had NEVER been accomplished before by any musher and has not been accomplished since.

I started my race seasons in 2007 for Mackey's Comeback Kennel. My first race was the Copper Basin 300... among many more. I eventually qualified for and raced Alaska's Last Great Race: The Iditarod in 2012. I am proud of my race time of 10 days, 22 hours, 44 minutes, 4 seconds. Crossing the finish line and earning my belt "buckle" in Nome has qualified me for a lifetime of running The Iditarod. Working and learning from Lance has been a privilege and an amazing foundation for me.

My long-standing friendship with established musher Travis Beals at Turning Heads Kennel out of Seward, Ak has rekindled my love and passion for dog mushing. I have been working with Travis and his dogs helping and keeping them race-ready by running them on the Godwin Glacier during the summer months for eco-friendly tourists that want to explore our dog mushing world and enjoy the beauty that is Alaska.

It is now time to start the 2022 race season to prepare for Iditarod again. Just like any business, it takes unexpected funds to get started! Between race entry fees, gear, food, and travel expenses, I am trying to get the most help I can. I would appreciate your help with the items listed below:
