This is Jumana Shahin speaking once more, expressing my heartfelt gratitude to all who assisted me in leaving Gaza. Regrettably, on April 19, 2024, I departed for Egypt with a heavy heart, consumed by painful thoughts and fears of the present and the future. I left behind my people, my city, my job, my home, and all my possessions in a desperate effort to ensure my daughter Sofia's safety.

Leaving my entire family in Gaza, including my mother and sisters with their children, fills me with immense sorrow. Despite the lengthy and difficult decision-making process, I ultimately took the step to ensure my small family's safety, even though I had no clear plan for what comes next or where we would go.

Now, after 200 days of much contemplation and resisting the idea of leaving Gaza, desperately, my family decided to leave as well.

I feel my heart burn while I’m writing this about my beloved mother and sisters, but I can feel their tiredness and pain of living under the bombing all these nights and experiencing the unbearable conditions that humans can’t endure for all this period.

My mother, Suhaila, aged 70, is still in Gaza with my three sisters, Inji, Lamis, and Ismat. She carries a huge responsibility on her shoulders and worries most about them all. She is very kind and giving that she's currently giving accommidation to more than 100 displaced stangers in her house.

Inji, my eldest sister, who works as a doctor, escaped death more than 6 times. She was displaced between Khan Younis, Rafah, and Deir Al Balah. Inji with her husband spent all their life savings to build a beautiful house where they put all their ideas and dreams. They spent a life time and a fortune to fully furnish their house, the way that they want it. Their newly built house and duplex apartment, where they were staying before moving to their new house, were fully destroyed. Ultimately, she chose to stay with my mother, recognizing it as the safest option after she lost everything, despite the knowledge that there is no truly safe place in Gaza.

( Inji's duplex aparatment - fully destroyed - after a near aparatment in the same Al Salhi building was targeted )

Lamis, my sister with a master's degree in French language, had resided in Algeria for 16 years before returning to Gaza just two months before the onset of the war. she lost all what she owned before starting her life in Gaza. Additionally, she separated from her husband a year ago and is now the sole caretaker of her three children.

My sister Ismat who is working as a dentist, she’s the main source of income for my mother’s house as she’s running my father’s clinic since he passed away 2 years ago. She has her only child, and is eager to resume her professional life as soon as possible due to the circumstances I've outlined above.

We’re a very educated family with high awareness about life and would love to keep serving our country, but now everything stopped in my family’s life.
They endure a lack of essential supplies, facing challenges with clean water, and resorting to makeshift filters with gauze on sinks. Besides the absence of electricity, gas, and health care, they struggle with dehydration due to reliance on canned food. and they grapple with very high prices, this mirroring the plight of other Gazans as well.

Currently, my sole requirement is to cover the coordination expenses for their evacuation. With three families, including my mother, I've calculated the necessary amount needed for payment, and the payment details are provided below.

My mother: $5000.
Inji’s family: (4 people, 4*$5000= $20000)
Lamis’s family: (3people, 3*$5000= $15000).
Ismat’s family: (3 people, 3*$5000= $15000).

Also, $2000 per family is needed for advance rental payment for a house in Egypt for three months, 3*$2000= $6000.

$1000 fee for transferring the money.

The total amount is $60000.

I'm giving my all for my family's safety, they deserve nothing less. I'm hopeful that your assistance can facilitate their evacuation from Gaza, at least until the war subsides.

Your appreciated contributions will make a significant difference and enable me to safeguard their lives.
Thank you for being their lifeline.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
