Help Furry Jully Beat Rare Cancer - Chemo & Care Fund
Donation protected
Hi there,
My name is Jully, and I'm a 10-year-old Maltese who's been incredibly blessed with a life full of love and cuddles. My mom is my whole world, and we've been through quite a journey together.
We moved to Canada from Brazil seven years ago to start fresh, just the two of us. It's been an adventure building our new life here, and honestly, we make a pretty good team. I'm my mom's emotional support and play an important role in her mental health as she works through her own challenges with anxiety and PTSD – helping her breathe and keeping her grounded. There's something special about a warm pup curled up next to you when life feels overwhelming.
After several weeks of tests and examinations, I had surgery to remove tumors from my anal glands. We recently received the biopsy results with some difficult news: I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Anal Sac Adenocarcinoma, and it appeared in both of my anal glands, which apparently doesn't happen very often. Now the next step is chemotherapy.
Here's where things get tricky. We do have pet insurance (thank goodness), but the costs are adding up faster than expected. The surgery, imaging, bloodwork, and medications have already stretched beyond what our current coverage can handle. My chemotherapy treatment will start this June 2025 and is estimated at CAD$7,725 (plus a CT scan halfway through estimated at CAD$3,600), and on top of that, I'll need follow-up visits every 3 months for imaging and blood work to monitor my progress and ensure my quality of life is maintained while fighting this aggressive and metastatic type of cancer. Our insurance won't renew to cover my treatments until March 2026.
My mom is doing her best to handle everything on her own, but we're getting to the point where we could really use some help. We're hoping to raise $15,000 to bridge the gap until our insurance coverage kicks in again. Even though unlikely, should there be any left over, we'll make sure to pass it forward to another pup-friend fighting cancer as well.
I know there are so many causes out there deserving of support. What I can tell you is that my mom and I aren't just owner and pet – we're family. We depend on each other in ways that go beyond the typical pet relationship.
Any amount helps, truly. And if you can't donate, just sharing this with someone who might be able to help means the world to us.
You can also follow our journey on [email redacted]tscancer where we share updates, positive moments, and hope we help other families going through similar experiences.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
With gratitude,
Jully & mommy Livia
