My Story
Hi, I’m Juliyan Antony Kumar, a 27-year-old from Sri Lanka. I’ve been diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) a life-threatening condition where my kidneys can no longer support my body.
For the past months, I’ve been on daily dialysis (CAPD) just to stay alive, and now I am preparing for a kidney transplant, with my father generously offering to be my donor.
While the surgery will take place at a government hospital, the real challenge begins after the transplant; the long, delicate recovery period where I will need to take lifelong medication, attend regular medical check-ups, and maintain a strict kidney-safe lifestyle.
Why I’m Asking for Help?
Doctors have advised that I will need to stay close to the hospital for regular check-ups and cannot risk long travel or exposure to infection. This means I won’t be able to return to normal work life or pursue stable job opportunities for at least 1–2 years.
During this time, even continuing my educational journey which is a big part of my dream to build a better life has become a burden. Still, I’m determined to complete my studies and rebuild my life in a healthy, infection-free way, step by step, over the next two years.
That’s why I’ve created this GoFundMe.
I’m hoping to raise AUD $9,000, which will help cover:
• Post-transplant medications (immunosuppressants, injections, supplements)
• Monthly lab tests and clinic visits
• Special nutrition and clean diet requirements
• Safe housing, utilities, and day-to-day living costs
• A basic setup to rebuild myself through self-learning and part-time remote work in the long term
