Help Julius get the PrTMS treatment
Donation protected
Hello,
My son Julius Ricketts, 19 years old, has severe autism. For many years since his diagnosis as a toddler in 2004, we struggled to find treatments and interventions to lessen the behaviors/symptoms commonly associated with severe autism. These symptoms include extreme anxiety, anger and frustration, physical aggression, impulsive movements, hyperactivity, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), lack of focus, sensitivity to sound and touch, inability to relax and lack of speech.
We recently came across a promising treatment called PrTMS, founded by Dr. Kevin T. Murphy, MD. The PrTMS stands for Personalized Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Please watch the short video for a brief overview of how it works. https://www.prtms.com/how-it-works/
We were very fortunate to get the insurance to pay for 34 sessions at $250 per session, which we completed in December of 2021. After we finished the treatment, a few weeks later, we started noticing Julius’ anxiety and extreme behaviors getting less and less, sleep getting better and verbal communication getting better. He seems calmer and more peaceful, and a little easier to teach him skills.
Because of these positive results that we are seeing, I would like to continue with the treatment, and my goal is to try and get 20 sessions in March or early April. However, the insurance will not cover additional treatments. We were extremely fortunate to get coverage previously because, most often, insurance doesn’t cover interventions for autism, and there is no way that I can afford it.
I am asking for help, especially after seeing the improvements that I am seeing right now and it's no longer guessing whether this treatment will help or trial and error. I firmly believe that additional sessions will continue to move Julius toward a better quality of life.
Whatever you feel in your heart to give, every little bit will help our goal and greatly be appreciated.
Thank you so very much!
