Hi, My name is Cecilia. My cousins and I are raising funds for, Julius Johnson, our cousin who lives in Sierra Leone, West Africa. He is a husband, father, son and brother and our dear cousin. He was admitted with renal failure in November 2021. Julius has been receiving dialysis since December 2021. Dialysis is costly in Sierra Leone and family and close friends have been donating money monthly to pay for his ongoing dialysis, which costs about $1200 per month. Due to the poor medical standards in Sierra Leone and the emergent nature of his kidney failure, he never received a proper fistula installation; through which he is supposed to receive his dialysis treatments, three times a week.
Fistulas surgery has to be performed by a vascular surgeon. There are no vascular surgeons in Sierra Leone, so he has been receiving treatments through a Permacath, which is not supposed to be used for more than three months. Julius' Permacath is in his neck, and has been compromised three times already. A permacath in the neck is prone to infections and easily clogged. Julius can only receive Fistula surgery if he travels to Ghana, where they have good vascular surgeons that can perform the needed surgery. We understand that things are difficult for everyone but we are desperate for help here. It would mean the world to us if we could get the funds to sort out this health problem and get him where he needs to be on his transplant journey. For Julius to receive the surgery in Ghana he will need to travel to Ghana with his wife, to help in during and after the surgery. We are aiming for $10000 to cover airfare for him and his wife, living expenses and the cost of the surgery and hospital stay. Sadly, Julius will be on dialysis for the rest of his life or until he gets a kidney transplant. Anything you can donate would be appreciated. Thank you all and God bless!
