Help Julio Recover from Unjust Termination
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
I am reaching out with an urgent request for financial support due to a deeply unjust and traumatic event that has left me unemployed and struggling to cover essential expenses.
On May 6th, I was abruptly fired from my role as a mental health professional after prioritizing my urgent medical needs as a person living with diabetes. After working nonstop for over six hours, I began experiencing symptoms of low blood sugar. When I attempted to step away to tend to my condition, my supervisor refused and demanded I continue working. Despite my clear communication that I was physically unable to proceed without addressing my health, she escalated the situation and fired me in a hostile manner, disregarding my well-being.
This distressing event resulted in physical harm, psychological trauma, and has prevented me from returning to work in my profession, as doing so under these circumstances would be unethical. Since my termination, I have applied for food assistance and unemployment benefits, but these systems are slow to process. In the meantime, I am struggling to cover rent, insurance, and other essential expenses.
Why This Matters
No diabetic should be fired for needing a break. No one should experience this level of mistreatment in the workplace. Prioritizing urgent health needs should never be a reason for termination. Unfortunately, I am now facing serious financial hardship simply because I stood up for my basic medical rights.
