It's hard to process the destruction and heartbreak a sudden accident leaves in it's wake.

The last Sunday of January, less than two weeks ago, Amey, my girlfriend and I were celebrating with my family, my aunt's birthday and everything was normal. Having a lovely time with family, including my much loved father.

Two days later my father, Julio, used a ladder and missed the final step as he came down and fell, sustaining a catastrophic brain injury and just like that, despite immediate intervention and surgery, he is in a coma in a severe and critical condition and our lives have changed forever.

He is so very loved, and my best friend. My mom adores him more than you would believe is possible and a whole huge family who love him. There are no words that could possibly be enough to describe how devastating this is.

The situation has left both an huge emotional hole but also a financial one.

For over 40 years he has run a garage which has been passed down three generations.

The overheads are expensive but it is vital that it continues to run and there will need to be some changes without their main mechanic.

We need some help adjusting in this new phase. The medical care he has (and continues to) receive, including two surgeries and round the clock care in a critical care unit are also unmanageable.

The ability to be able to process what has happened is vital but close to impossible with all the financial costs weighting so heavily on us at the same time which we cannot ignore.
