Support Julie Prewitt’s Medical and Memorial Fund

On Tuesday February 6th , 2024, Julie Michelle Prewitt, our dear friend and family member lost her beautiful life to acute liver failure and complications at the young age of 49. Many of you knew that Julie was in the final stage of radiation treatment in the midst of overcoming her breast cancer. In late January, Julie unexpectedly became very ill, and was hospitalized for a total of 18 days at Los Alamitos and then Cedars Sinai fighting for her life due to the onset of catastrophic liver failure and complications from it. We fought tirelessly for Julie to receive the best care in seeking out top liver experts. Julie was unfortunately denied a liver transplant by all hospitals due to her not being “cancer free for 1-5 years.” This was devastating, unfair, and shocking news to her family. Without a liver transplant, Julie’s hope of survival was impossible. After a traumatic decision by the family, she peacefully passed away with her wife Heidi, daughter Katlyn, and closest family and friends holding her hands.

Julie touched so many lives with her genuine soul, sarcastic wit, and loving nature. She would do anything to help anyone, and she lit up a room with her infectious smile and memorable laugh. She dedicated her life, not only to her family, and friends, but to working for an animal rescue, the spcaLA, for nearly a quarter century. The animals she loved will miss the sound of her power walking down the hallways with her keys clanking by her side on a mission to fetch kittens and supplies on their way to a new foster home. She helped fight for the animals who had no voice, and found loving and caring families, fosters, and rescues. Julie not only was a true community hero saving thousands of animals, but also touched just as many human lives during the process.

The loss of Julie has crushed all that knew her and whose lives she touched, whether big or small. We know how much Julie meant to all of us and the impact she made on our lives. May her shining light continue to radiate throughout our whole community.

Please consider donating to help Julie’s wife and family to cover medical expenses for her liver and breast cancer treatment bills that continue to come in. All donations collected will go directly to pay medical bills or memorial costs. We appreciate your help in any way possible during this extremely difficult time.
