Help Julie with Breast Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Alana Coble, and I'm fundraising for my sister, Julie Erickson.

We never dreamed we would be in a position to need to ask for help. Julie has been an active community member who has always been the one who looked for ways to help others. But now she needs help herself.

Julie was diagnosed with cancer. This in and of itself is overwhelming in many ways and brings on a whole host of challenges and a feeling of apprehension. As you know or can imagine it is an individual journey so it can be demanding, and isolating for Julie.

The good news is Julie had a successful mastectomy in January 2023, the PET scan is encouraging and she has started treatment, which involves chemo, and radiation, and pointing towards reconstructive surgery a year and a half from now!

Along the way, she - and we - will be tested in many ways. In the early stages of this (it has only been 2 months) she has discovered that she is more vulnerable than any of us anticipated and stronger than she knew. She is sure that many growth moments and life tests are still to come. But with the help of those who know and love her, she will prevail.

From a more practical perspective, though, Julie is severely challenged as a self-employed single person. Dealing with the news of her cancer diagnosis is one source of fear, but the reality of losing her physical capability and stamina for work is another.

To be brutally honest, she's already lost significant income and spending reserves because of not working during surgery and recovery. 5 months of upcoming chemo and 5 months of radiation will take their toll, too. This means she is worried about being able to pay the bills and stay in place. Bills are projected to be $18,000 for 2023 and nearly the same in 2024.

Let's help Julie focus on her treatment and recovery and not be worried about bills.

As the bills mount over the coming year, your help would be invaluable. Whatever you can offer will make a difference for her emotionally, physically, and financially.

Falling on hard times is nothing that any of us anticipates but with all of our help, she hopes to be able to stay in place and remain physically and emotionally secure. You should know that your support would mean the world to her.

Thank you so much for reading this and for your support!
