My name is Jennifer, Im Julie's daughter. Julie has been a caretaker for over 40 years working in nursing homes, hospice care and home care. She is such a loving, caring person who gives her all to the people that she is caring for and now she needs our help!!
On Tuesday October 14th my mom finally went to the ER after experiencing dizziness and weakness in her left extremities for about a month. During that month she had went to her primary care Dr who found nothing wrong and a neurologist who had ordered test. She didn't even have the time to get the tests that he ordered done when her symptoms got worse and that's when she decided it was time to go to the ER.
They did blood work and a CT which is when they found a 3.6cm tumor in her Basal Ganglia. By Thursday they had her transferred over to Alexian Brothers Hosp where they did a brain biopsy and the preliminary results confirmed that the tumor is a glioma. We're still waiting for the final results to find out what type and stage the glioma is.
My mom is unable to work and will be starting chemo and radiation as soon as the final results of the biopsy are in. She has applied for short term disability through her work and we will apply for social security disability once we get her final diagnosis but the bills will be piling up. Not only the medical bills but also the bills at home. I do live with her and will do my best to pay the monthly bills but I am also a full time caregiver for her and I can only work when I have someone who is able to be at the house with her. Any little bit helps tremendously!! If you're unable to help financially, please keep my mother in your thoughts and prayers!!! We need this cancer to be treatable and to give her as much time as possible to enjoy the people and things that she loves so dearly!!
