Help Julie TACKLE Breast Cancer

Donation protected

On September 5th, the Shallis family received news that no one ever wants to hear.  Julie - a wife, a mom, a daughter, a sister, an auntie, my sweet friend - was diagnosed with stage 2b, HER2 positive breast cancer.

It’s a very aggressive form of cancer.  In the one month’s time since diagnosis, Julie has endured multiple medical appointments full of MRI scans, biopsies, and blood tests.  She’s undergone her chemo-port surgery and started round 1 of 6 chemotherapy treatments on Tuesday 10/1.  The 6 months of port chemotherapy will be followed by 13 weeks of infusion chemotherapy, as well as, radiation treatments.  The next TWO years will consist of chemotherapy, strict medication regimens, infusions, radiation treatments, a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgeries.

Being the resilient (and BRAVE) person she is, Julie is determined to work as much as she can through treatment in order to maintain some form of normalcy in her life and in the lives of her husband and four children.  But cancer isn’t “normal” and it doesn’t “take a break”.  There will be many days of missed work for both Julie, and Kip, due to treatments and later on, surgeries, which will cause financial stresses.   I’ve started this page, with the permission of the Shallis family, to serve as the FIELD in which the ARMY of Julie’s family and friends can come together as a TEAM to show our support and to help this wonderful family TACKLE BREAST CANCER!

Anything you can give will be so thankfully appreciated.  Any amount, no matter how small, will help relieve the stress of daily living expenses, as well as traveling to treatment expenses and medical costs, so that Julie, Kip and the kids can focus on rest, recovery and each other.

With Julie’s continued permission, I will post updates from her and her family, as well as specific prayer requests.

PLEASE remind yourselves and others to get checked regularly!!

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD.  Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11
