Help Julie Study Abroad with Semester at Sea

Support my journey in studying abroad with Semester at Sea!

Hello family, friends and supporters! My name is Julie Mantari and I am a senior majoring in Social Media & Public Relations at Montclair State University. I have recently been accepted for a study abroad program called Semester at Sea for Fall 2025! For anyone who is not sure what Semester at Sea is, it’s a program where you get to live and study aboard on a ship and learn from faculty alongside classmates from all over the world while traveling to different countries together! It allows students to study, learn, grow academically and personally in 10 different countries over 4 months while having a once in a lifetime experience. Over the course of the semester I will be traveling to many different countries from September 2025 to December 2025, learning about the many diverse cultures and taking 12 credit classes on the ship. Some of the many countries I’ll be visiting are France, Morocco, South Africa and Spain!

Why Semester at Sea:

This journey will be more than an academic experience, it’s a life changing adventure where I hope to share and show everyone. This program has been a dream of mine for as long as I could remember. As a Social Media & Public Relations major, I believe this unique program is the perfect fit for me. Semester at Sea is unlike any traditional study abroad – instead of being confined to one location, I'll be traveling to multiple countries while earning academic credits. From learning about international media landscapes to connecting with people from all over the world while on the ship and in each country, this journey will take my education and career to new heights. I would love to put my skills to work and create videos and photograph moments during my voyage to build my portfolio as I will be entering my senior year during Fall of 2025. Semester at Sea would be the perfect experience for me as I’ve always wanted to travel the world, capture beautiful moments, and learn about different cultures. I’m very excited for this adventure and all the lessons it’ll bring!

The Costs:

However, this once in a lifetime experience does come with a very significant cost and that is why I have made this GoFundMe. This fundraiser will help with the cost for this abroad program which includes travel expenses, living costs, unique field programs in each country and any extra expenses. Until the day I leave for this program, I will be doing everything I can to fundraise, apply for scholarships and save up to help cover most of the expenses it would take for this opportunity but I will need your help!
