Hi, my name is Lindy. I am Julie's sister.
I am fundraising to help Julie & Steve get back on their feet after their devastating loss in the Wardell 2022 Flood & return to some normality.
- Julie & Steve's home at East Wardell was inundated by recent floods & resulting surge of water downstream from Lismore, Coraki & Woodburn. In their 18 years in Wardell they have never experienced any life-threatening floods at all. They had to make a quick exit at 7 pm when ordered to evacuate, amidst rising local rivers & creeks. They are currently camping in their camper trailer at Alstonville Evacuation Centre in NSW where they have been since 28 Feb 2022.
- Many people have offered assistance but don't know what they can do to help. Julie & Steve are unable to accept physical items at this stage because they have nowhere to store them. With this in mind, the best assistance you can offer them is a very welcome donation. When they are able to move back home, they can then use your donation to purchase specific furniture items at that time.
- Water levels between 1 ft & 1 metre & mud engulfed their house & unit at the rear. Carpets, curtains & furniture were all destroyed, some clothes ruined & doors, cabinetry, walls and air conditioning units suffered irreparable water damage. On a good note, the happiness shone in Julie's voice & brought tears to my eyes when she told me her much loved Accordion was above the water level & that her piano still plays. Music to my ears! Mother Nature could not take that from her.
- Julie & Steve have regularly sacrificed their time volunteering with Marine Rescue Evans Head & providing emergency assistance to those in need. Now, they deserve to be assisted by others who care about them. Your donations will show them we care & will touch their hearts. I know they would not feel comfortable accepting donations from others who are going through the same horrific ordeal. However, for those who are not, those from afar who live interstate or abroad, you can know that you are making a difference in their lives right now by donating.
- Your donations will be used towards purchase of furniture items that were destroyed in the floods. Please "Touch the Hearts" of Julie & Steve by donating what you can afford. Let's help them make their home secure and liveable again.
