Hi, my name is Jordan, and I am creating this fundraiser for my grandmother, Julie. I am setting it up on her behalf because she is not comfortable with technology and would have difficulty creating one herself.
Julie has always been the kind of person who puts others before herself, and asking for help is something she never imagined she would have to do.
On Monday morning, Julie’s home was devastated when the tornado struck Menasha. A large tree fell directly onto the property, causing severe damage throughout the house. Her garage and porch were destroyed, the ceiling in her bedroom collapsed, and large sections of the roof and exterior were torn open.
The damage has left the home exposed to the weather. Even with tarps covering parts of the roof and windows, water continues to leak throughout the house, causing additional damage every time it rains. The city has declared the home unsafe and uninhabitable, meaning Julie cannot return until extensive repairs are completed. Without homeowners insurance, we cannot say when that may be.
Julie is currently staying safely with our family in Appleton. She has lived in her home for 16 years, and it means the world to her. It is more than just a house—it is where she has built her life, made countless memories, and maintained her independence.
We are incredibly grateful to the amazing people who have volunteered to remove the fallen tree at no cost and place tarps over the damaged roof and windows. Their generosity has already made a tremendous difference.
However, removing the tree is only the beginning. The cost of repairing the damage and making Julie’s home safe and livable again will be overwhelming.
Donations will help cover:
* Rebuilding the destroyed garage and porch
* Repairing the roof, framing, siding, and windows
* Reconstructing Julie’s damaged bedroom
* Repairing water damage throughout the home
* Drying the property and preventing mold and further deterioration
* Electrical, insulation, drywall, flooring, and other interior repairs
* Inspections, permits, construction materials, and professional labor
* Other necessary expenses required to make the home safe again
Our family is doing everything we can, but without insurance, the cost of rebuilding is far more than we can manage alone. We will continue sharing updates and repair estimates as we learn more about the full extent of the damage.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will help Julie move one step closer to returning to the home she loves. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also mean so much to our family.
Thank you for taking the time to read Julie’s story and for helping her rebuild after this devastating tornado.
