Help Julie Kim beat cervical cancer
Donation protected
On September 17, 2022, Julie Kim, my mother was diagnosed with a rare form of cervical cancer called endocervical adenocarcinoma, gastric type. Considered a more aggressive type of tumor, surgery is the first step when tackling this form of cancer followed by chemotherapy if the cancer were to metastasize and begin to spread.
While she has already had a total hysterectomy performed, a biopsy was also performed to examine the lymph nodes close to the site of the tumor and through collaborative efforts, doctors determined that it had metastasized to a nearby lymph node. With this prognosis, she was diagnosed stage IIIC1.
My mother will soon begin five weeks of concurrent weekly chemotherapy with cisplatin and radiation therapy in an attempt to prevent her cancer from spreading further.
At 52 years of age, my mother works daily to support herself and me (a 27-year-old male). She will be out of work during this difficult time while I continue to make strides in my work as a Coach and Manager in Esports. While she will be receiving disability for her time away from work, we still need financial support to pay insurance premiums, out-of-pocket money for treatment (which isn't covered by her company insurance) and living costs. I will be her primary caregiver but do not possess the financial stability to bolster the financial impact that this will have on my mother and me. With the help of a few of my closest friends, I will be comforting and caring for my mother to be fighting this battle with all of her strength.
Julie is the type of person who wholeheartedly supported those around her, finding joy in sharing life's experiences with other people including her friends and her family. No matter what, she was willing to support me as I made the risky decision to chase my passion.
No matter how big or small, every donation to this fund will be a massive help as all proceeds will make their way to Julie while she receives treatment. I ask everyone that stops by for your support, well words and prayers that she can push through and overcome cancer as she is the rock of my life and many others within our family and her friends.
