As many of you know, Julie Brinker’s husband, Greg, is battling ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Greg was diagnosed in December of 2022 after 9 months of enduring tests, so he has been living with this disease for almost 3 years. To give you an idea, only 65% of people with ALS make it 3 years and only 20% will make it to 5 years. ALS starts by taking your mobility, followed by your speech and breathing. At this point, Greg is 100% wheelchair bound, and Julie is his full-time caregiver. This is why it was decided that the LO Rally should be in Waco, TX this year. It is an opportunity to allow Julie to be close to home while feeling supported by her fellow co-workers and let me tell you, it has meant so much to her that everyone is traveling to Waco.
Greg’s diagnosis has forced them to deal with things like his early retirement, figuring out insurance, and getting their affairs in order, all while Julie still runs her business. The medical expenses, his specialized care and additional needs associated with this disease are significant. While Greg and Julie have both shown incredible resilience, faith, and hope, I feel like this is an opportunity we can come together and possibly help lighten the financial burden they are experiencing.
It takes all of 5 minutes of knowing Julie to truly get a feel for what a huge heart this woman has. Every contribution, no matter how small, will truly make a difference to their family. Thank you so much in advance for donating if you can. I think this is a special opportunity to show one of our own an immense amount of love, support, and to make an impact in Julie and Greg’s lives.
Julie and Greg are completely unaware of these efforts and we ask you to please keep it a secret at this time. She will be presented with the GoFundMe at our LO Rally next month. Thank you!
