After four years working as a budget analyst for the Department of Education, I recently learned that my position will be ending on June 30, 2026. The loss is due to government defunding of grant monies, not because of my performance. My role involved verifying expenditures for COVID relief grants in Kentucky, and I took great pride in my work. This sudden change has left me and my daughter facing a very uncertain future.

Last year, we experienced a devastating flood that destroyed most of our belongings. We had to relocate to a new apartment and start over, refurnishing our home from scratch. Even now, we are still in the process of rebuilding our lives after that natural disaster. The emotional toll has been immense—I've needed support from therapists and psychologists to manage the tremendous anxiety of job searching at 53. My daughter, who struggles with extreme OCD, depression, and self-harm, has also needed extra mental health support to navigate these challenges.

Any funds raised will go directly toward our rent, therapy sessions, groceries, and hygiene essentials. Because of the flood, I lost most of my wardrobe and don't even have proper interview clothes or work shoes. This is a frightening time for us, especially in the current economy. I am so grateful that people like you exist. It took me years to learn how to ask for help, and now, after working so hard to rebuild, we are facing another setback. Your support can help us get through this life-altering change without losing hope. Thank you for showing up for those of us who struggle to exist. If the tables were turned, I would love to help others in need, but today, I am the one asking. You will be covered in my prayers and deepest thanks.
