Update 4/24/26
Hi everyone,

Julie and I have returned home from our visit to Memorial Sloan Kettering and I wanted to share a quick update.

We received some encouraging news! Julie has been approved by the drug company to move forward with screening for a clinical trial that is specifically targeted to her cancer. This is a big step, and we are very hopeful about this opportunity.
The next part of the process involves additional screening requirements.

The drug company has very specific qualifications and requirements. The trial requires a review of her original tumor tissue, so we are currently working to have those materials sent to MSK as quickly as possible. If they are unable to obtain what they need from prior samples, they may need to perform a new biopsy to move things forward.

We know many of you are hoping for treatment to begin immediately, and we feel that urgency as well. This waiting period is incredibly difficult, especially as Julie continues to not feel well. While we work through these steps, her medical team is also helping manage her symptoms and keep her as comfortable as possible.

We remain hopeful and grateful that this clinical trial is still a potential option for her, and we are doing everything we can to keep things moving as quickly as possible.
Thank you for continuing to support Julie and our family through this. I can’t express enough how much your prayers, messages, and generosity mean to us.

We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more. And please keep praying…specifically that everything needed gets to MSK as soon as possible and that she gets scheduled for the screening process very soon so she can begin treatment!

Thank you so much!!

With love,

Kristin

Update 4/21/26
Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update after Julie’s appointment today at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

First, we are so incredibly grateful for the care she received today! We met an amazing nurse and oncologist. They were so thorough, compassionate, and took the time to really listen and review everything in detail. We left the appointment feeling heard and supported, and most importantly, Julie left the appointment feeling encouraged and hopeful, which was so good for both our hearts❤️

Unfortunately, it was confirmed that Julie’s cancer has progressed, including new spots seen on her liver. While that is difficult news to process, we are thankful to now have a clearer understanding of what we’re facing and a path forward.
We discussed treatment options, including the current standard therapy (Lenvatinib, which is a “chemo pill”) as well as clinical trials. Based on genetic testing, we know Julie’s specific tumor mutations that are driving this cancer to be so aggressive and grow so rapidly. Based on this these specific mutations, her oncologist at MSK feels she could be a strong candidate for a clinical trial that uses a newer, targeted therapy designed specifically for her type of cancer/genetic mutation. The trial represents a much more targeted approach and also may offer a huge opportunity in giving her the best chance at prolonging her life. He felt moving forward with the trial would be the best option for her.

This trial is not something every patient qualifies for so we are really grateful that this may be an option for her. The next step is to move quickly into the screening process to confirm eligibility. If all goes as planned, they are working to fast-track her so she can begin treatment as soon as possible. We would appreciate prayers that these next steps move as quickly as possible.

As part of this trial, Julie would need to stay in New York for approximately six weeks at the beginning of the trial so the medical team can closely monitor her response and adjust the medication to the most effective dose with the fewest side effects. This level of monitoring is an important part of giving her the best possible outcome, but it also adds to the logistical and financial challenges we are navigating.

We know many of you have been asking for updates on how you can help, next steps, etc. Right now, we are focused on moving forward with this next step at MSK and staying prayerful and hopeful as we begin this process.

THANK YOU for continuing to support Julie and our family through this. Your messages, prayers, and generosity truly mean more than we can express.

We will continue to share updates as we learn more!

With so much gratitude, Kristin

Hi everyone,

We are reaching out to ask for support for my Aunt Julie, who was recently diagnosed with Stage IV papillary thyroid cancer that has spread to her lungs and bones. This news has been devastating and overwhelming for her and our entire family.

She has already undergone surgery, radiation therapy and had radioactive iodine treatments. She is now beginning targeted treatment to give her the best chance at extending her life. We are doing everything we can to explore the best possible options for her care, including consultations at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center to evaluate advanced treatment and clinical trial opportunities.

To know Julie is to love Julie. If you know her, you know what an incredible person she is. She has the kindest heart, the most positive spirit, and a smile that can light up any room. She has a special way of making everyone around her feel loved, seen, and cared for. Even now, as she faces the hardest battle of her life, she continues to show faith, strength, grace, and unwavering positivity. Julie has always been the one to show up for others. During my own family’s cancer battles, she stood by my mom and my family every step of the way. In some of my mom’s darkest moments, Julie was there with love, encouragement, and anything we needed. Now it’s our turn to be there for her.

These next steps are incredibly important and offer hope for slowing this disease, giving her more precious time and God willing, remission. As we move quickly to get Julie in front of the right specialists, the costs are adding up fast — including travel, lodging, medical expenses, and time away from work.

We created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden so Julie can focus on what matters most: fighting this cancer. We are asking specifically for help to support her with:
• Travel to and from New York, Houston, and any other location that offers her a chance of clinical trials or help
• Lodging during treatments and consultations at whichever location she is accepted at
• Health related expenses during this time while off of work

If you feel led to donate, share this page, or simply keep Julie in your prayers, we would be deeply grateful. Every act of support means the world to us.

Julie has spent her life caring for others, and now we hope to surround her with the same love and generosity she has always given so freely.

Our hearts are broken that she has to face this, but she is so deeply loved, and we will do everything we can to help her through this fight.

Thank you for supporting Julie and lifting her up with support, love, and prayers.
