Help Juliana Reunite With Her Son and Secure Legal Representation
Our community member Juliana has been in ICE detention since January. She is a devoted community member and a single mother whose detention has deeply impacted her family.
Juliana’s sudden detention left her 8-year-old son behind. Her son is autistic, and Juliana has been his primary and constant caregiver. She is the person who has always provided him with comfort, stability, and care. Being separated from his mother has been incredibly difficult for him, and he is still adjusting to being away from her and from the familiarity of his home.
Like so many immigrant mothers, Juliana has always worked hard to provide for her child and contribute to her community. She is an agricultural worker and a member of Alianza Agrícola, where she has stood alongside other farmworkers advocating for dignity, safety, and respect in agricultural work. Her detention has turned her family’s life upside down.
Juliana is a woman of faith, and during this painful time, her sisters and brothers have come together to support her and her son in every way they can. This is one of those moments where community truly shows up to care for a child, to support a mother, and to stand with a family navigating fear and uncertainty.
Her son is currently staying with a trusted family friend, who is now responsible for his daily care and wellbeing. This situation has created significant financial strain. Immigration attorney fees are extremely high, especially for detained cases, and if Juliana is released, she may also be required to pay a bond in order to return home to her son.
Right now, access to a qualified immigration lawyer is critical. Legal representation can make the difference between continued family separation and Juliana having the chance to fight her case and reunite with her child.
All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to the family friend who is caring for Juliana’s son and managing immigration attorney costs and related expenses on the family’s behalf.
Juliana and her family’s immediate needs include:
• Immigration attorney and legal fees
• Possible bond funds if she is granted release
• Living and care expenses for her son
• Basic necessities during Juliana’s detention
• Phone and communication costs so Juliana can stay connected with her child
What Juliana and her son are experiencing is traumatic, but sadly not uncommon. Families are being torn apart, and children especially those with additional needs are left to navigate immense loss and confusion.
What you can do:
• Donate what you can to support Juliana and her son
• Share Juliana’s story with your trusted networks
• Join a rapid response network in your area to support families facing detention and deportation
Juliana deserves to be free and reunited with her child. With faith, family, and community standing together, we can help make that possible.
