Help Juliana regain her health and home
Donation protected
I'm posting this update for my sister Juliana. She continues to experience ongoing health issues related to long haul covid and compounded based on her previous diagnosis of chronic inflammatory syndrome and sarcoidosis. The chronic inflammation in her body and stressed systems have resulted in migraines, extreme fatigue, brain fog, pulmonary issues, pain throughout her body, and neuropathy. She recently had an MRI based on these symptoms, and doctors found a small tumor in her brain. They are running additional tests to determine diagnosis and treatment. She will be seeing a neurosurgeon in the coming weeks. Needless to say, she is not feeling well enough to go back to work full time, which has been extremely difficult. She is in need of additional support, and I'm posting this update to ask for your help if you are able. Any donation is much appreciated and will go a long way towards assisting her with medical and household bills to get to a diagnosis and treatment and ultimately restore her health.
Original Post 2022: I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money to support my sister Juliana. She has been having a series of medical issues over the last several years and despite meeting with a wide range of medical specialists and undergoing various diagnostic tests and procedures, she continued to suffer without a diagnosis. She saw numerous doctors ruling out things such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS, and lupus. She continued to work throughout this time for years as she saw specialists and sought answers for her ailments. At times she would end up in the hospital and still no answers. She went on medical leave in the spring to quarantine when she contracted COVID, and what she hoped would only be a few weeks, became a series of specialist appointments, further testing, biopsies, and a diagnosis of a pulmonary autoimmune disease. Going back to work in her full-time position in restaurant management has been impossible.
Finally in September she saw a new doctor who diagnosed her with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) related to mold exposure. And based on the extended mold exposure and CIRS, she had developed the autoimmune disease Sarcoidosis, which a biopsy of her lymph nodes revealed in June.
While she thought she had one leak stemming from her kitchen, upon further inspection she found other places throughout her home and needs to move forward with remediation- all the while fighting with the insurance company to cover all repairs. Juliana had mold biotoxin lab testing and it revealed she has several molds cultivating in her system. One mold in her system should be 37.4 or less to be considered a normal level. Juliana has 3,654.39 which is elevated off the charts. She is seeing specialists to rid her body of the mold, but most expenses are not covered by her health insurance. One doctor will not treat her until she is completely out of the house. Juliana also has great concerns that her children may be exposed to the mold and are symptomatic. She is currently seeking to have them tested and further treated.
The insurance company made accommodations for Juliana and her family to stay in a hotel while investigating the leaks. After five days they informed her she would have to leave because they were denying the claim. She begged them to extend her stay to focus on her health, but they only extended for another week, at which time she had no choice but to vacate as the cost of the hotel is $149.00 a night. She continues to suffer a range of symptoms...extreme fatigue, nausea, body aches and pain, brain fog, confusion, pulmonary issues, headaches, collapsing of veins, dangerous spikes in blood pressure (while on bp medications) due to a clotting issue that has landed her in and out of the hospital. Between the stress of dealing with the insurance company, post COVID, securing a place to live, trying to figure out plan B in the event the insurance won’t cover all repairs, undergoing intensive treatment (that sometimes her body can’t tolerate because of the stress and chronic inflammatory response) to get the Sarcoidosis into remission, she feels exhausted and defeated most days.
Current Situation-
Juliana is in the process of undergoing treatment and finding a place to live until there is a resolution to complete the work in the house. During this time she is seeing multiple doctors for a variety of symptoms related to Sarcoidosis, CIRS and mold exposure. Unfortunately, medical expenses and some prescriptions directly related to treating the Sarcoidosis, CIRS, and mold toxicity are not covered by her insurance and she is undergoing further testing. She is currently up to 25k in medical expenses and they will continue to increase. It has been a battle with the insurance company, despite the health issues and eventual diagnosis. Unfortunately unemployment and disability have been pending since May. She has exhausted all other options. Most of the items in her home have been exposed to mold spores and she will likely have to dispose of it or remediate the items. The remediation will be expensive, and the medical bills are piling up. Her main goal is to focus on her health and make the home safe for her and her family to live in.
Juliana is in dire straits right now and could really use our help. She is a kind and loving person who always helps others in need. These health issues have put a huge strain on her physical, mental, emotional and financial health. Any help you are able to provide is appreciated more than you will ever know. This help will go towards the mold remediation to get her back into her home, and the rising medical expenses she will endure as she attempts to get the mold out of her system and the autoimmune disease into remission.
