Hi everyone, I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my cousin, Julia, who is carrying more responsibility and hardship than any one person should ever have to manage. She would never ask for help herself — she is strong, private, and always the one helping others — so I’m stepping in to help her now.

Julia is raising two children in her home:

• Jax, her biological son, age 9

• Vinny, her nephew, age 4

Vinny is developmentally delayed and requires constant care and support, which can be challenging and demanding. His biological mother, Amanda — who is also Julia’s sister — loves him deeply and remains part of his life, but due to the level of care he needs, Julia has taken on the daily responsibility of raising him. The shared priority is ensuring Vinny receives stability, safety, and the support he needs.

For a period of time, Julia was able to work part-time because Jordan — her significant other and the father of Jax — was able to help with childcare and daily responsibilities. However, Jordan became critically ill and is currently hospitalized again while awaiting a liver transplant. His condition requires ongoing medical monitoring, treatment, and support.

Without Jordan’s help at home, Julia has been unable to work, as she now must balance caring for both children while also being Jordan’s primary advocate and support system.

During this incredibly heavy season of life, Julia has also faced tremendous personal loss.

Within one single year, she experienced:

• The suicide of her stepfather outside their home while she and the children were inside

• The unexpected passing of her mother shortly after stage 4 cancer was discovered

• Ongoing grief from earlier losses, including the death of her father

These events would overwhelm anyone — and she faced them while raising two young children who depend on her every day.

On top of all of this, an additional legal and financial barrier has made stability even harder:

The home she lives in and the vehicles she relied on are tied up in probate — and the probate process has been delayed.

Because the legal ownership cannot yet be transferred, Julia cannot:

• Put the mortgage in her name

• Transfer the vehicle titles

• Register or insure the vehicles under her own name

• Legally rely on them for transportation until the probate is completed

Even though the vehicles run, this delay means she currently lacks reliable transportation — and that has created additional obstacles:

• She cannot transport Vinny to childcare or daycare

• Without reliable care options, she cannot secure employment or income

• Transportation for medical appointments, care logistics, or daily needs has become extremely limited

A legal and functional means of transportation is essential—not optional—for her to get back to stability.

• Probate and legal-related expenses

• Securing transportation and housing in Julia’s name

• Medical and caregiving needs

• Essential living expenses while she cannot work

• Transitional support until she can return to stable employment

Julia does not want a handout.

She has continued her education throughout many of these challenges because she wants to return to full-time work, support her family independently, and ensure both boys have access to education and opportunity.

She is doing everything she can — but right now, the circumstances around her have made it impossible to move forward without help.

This fundraiser isn’t about replacing her effort — it’s about helping her get past this legal and life roadblock so she can rebuild and regain independence.
