On Tuesday, September 17th, around 3 AM, Julia and her boyfriend Jessy woke up to flames outside their balcony. A fire had started in the unit below them, quickly spreading upward. They immediately called 911 and rushed to wake their neighbors, making sure others could get out safely.

They escaped with only the clothes on their backs and their beloved dog, Shadow. Heartbreakingly, after two desperate attempts to find their little cat, Hazel, they believe she may have perished in the fire.

They now face the unimaginable—losing their home and all of their belongings in a matter of moments. Their clothes, car keys, keepsakes—everything is gone. While they are fortunate to have temporary housing and renter’s insurance, it will take time for claims to process, and they need help right now to begin rebuilding their lives.
