Help Julia Get Back on the Road Safely

Hi there, I'm Julia Knobloch, I am a rabbi and a poet, and I was in an accident on December 23rd of last year.

My Subaru Outback and I took the 110 to the 405 to the 605 to almost the 10 - but we never made it, because on a rainy and foggy freeway, someone rear ended the car and upended the travel plans and the last two weeks - and my bank account.

Thankfully, I was not injured, but my car was declared a total loss -- and now I need to buy a new car.

Or rather, a new pre-owned car. And I found a good substitute for this sturdy beloved Subaru that would have gone another 100k, give or take... I had gotten it for a friend's price from a dear friend in 2023, and it was all the love -- and it was heart-breaking to empty out the car yesterday and walk away from it.

The Subaru waiting for me at a Long Beach car dealer is in good shape and I know it will be a loyal companion, but it comes without warranty. And this is why I am doing this first ever gofundme fundraiser.

With the money from the insurance and scraping my savings that I was able to put to the side since I started my job as a rabbi in July, I can pay the car, but the additional $3100 for a Subaru warranty are too much for a recent graduate who is looking at significant student loan payback every month.

I can't afford another interest-based financing for something that is so essential like a degree -- or a car in SoCal.

Ever since I came to the United States 14 years ago, I have been living from month to month, and now, finally gainfully employed for the last six months after five years of rabbinical school, I don't have any reserves to speak of for such a thing to happen - or to repair potential larger repairs if the car does need them. (chas v'shalom)

So I am turning to my larger community and network for help. This is not an easy decision.
I was brought up with the maxim to always have breakfast and never go into debt, and until piling up student loans for rabbinical school, I abided by that advice. I still have breakfast every morning. I can pay the car in full, but I feel that I need the Subaru warranty, just in case, to be prudent, and folks I trust who I asked for advice, agreed.

The warranty is $3100, and the goal I added here is $2500. I am hoping for any help that might feel appropriate to you, even if it doesn't reach the goal, anything will be wonderful. Thank you very, very much for considering to get me on the road feeling safe and protected.
