Our daughter Julia was diagnosed with severe scoliosis in 2018. There are many potential causes of scoliosis.  It can develop from an injury, like a fall down the steps or off a swing, or it could be hereditary.  When discovered Julia's spinal curvature was severe enough that surgery was imminent. However, we soon learned of specialized, aggressive scoliosis care and new brace technology that does more than simply prevent scoliosis from worsening.  It actually reduces the curvature and applies the best corrective principles available.   This presented a real alternative to risky, expensive, and extremely invasive surgery.

     Julia's curvature at the time of diagnosis, and the beginning of treatment, was 56 degrees. To put this in perspective,  immediate surgery is recommended for curvature over 40 degrees.

We began our journey with a 2-week intensive therapy and  3D imaging scan to create a custom brace.   She was then instructed on how to do daily, at-home therapy, including 1.5 hours of specific exercises designed to strengthen and balance the body.  In addition, she wears the ScoliBrace 21 hours a day.

We are thrilled that the treatment, combined with Julia's diligence in following her daily regimen, and the effectiveness of her 1st brace, has shown great progress!

This means she is in desperate need of a new brace to diminish the curvature as much as possible before those growth plates close!    

     The required treatment needed today includes continued therapy at the specialist's facility in Florida,  a NEW brace (which is good because the first brace has done all it can do and is no longer effective), AND weekly therapy with our local doctor.   We believe this will be her LAST brace!   Although her daily exercises and weekly physical therapy should be a lifelong discipline.

     Julia has been extremely diligent in following her daily routine, wearing her brace without fail - all with a great attitude!

     These funds are needed immediately as our family business income has dropped dramatically over the last year. (As have many others) It's our hope to immediately begin this next round of therapy and get her fitted for her new and hopefully last custom scoli-brace!

     There is a real sense of urgency as Julia's growth plates are nearly closed.  Once the growth plates close, the bones are not nearly as maleable.  As seen in the X-rays, and by the fact that she has "outgrown" her current brace, treatment has been very effective.  While treatment at any age is helpful, it is expecially productive during the growing years.
