Help Julia beat Cancer
Donation protected
My partner, Julia Cairo, is a brave, amazing women that is currently battling metastatic cervical cancer that was found in her lungs.
She's 40 years old, devoted mother to our dog, Frank, costumer extraordinaire for film/television, lover of oddities (including me), and all around lady that I love and support through good and bad.
Several years ago she was treated with chemo-radiation for cervical cancer and declared cancer free. We were so relieved and grateful that she responded so well to treatment. We thought we had beat the disease.
Recently, she was suffering from some lung issues and had a CT scan taken. They found that the cancer had spread to both lungs undetected and metastasized, life threatening and inoperable. She will be receiving chemotherapy in order to control the cancer if possible.
We were not prepared for a life event of this magnitude; the diagnosis was completely unexpected after being "cancer free". I am currently putting myself through school working part time as a waiter, she is working in film and television but will have to take time off to recover. While she does have insurance (for now), there are significant copays that come with this type of treatment as well as immediate living and incidental expenses that are additional to what we can afford, in particular if she is not working. Benefit options are being explored (i.e. FMLA, disability) , but they are limited, temporary, and take time to acquire. We have already been living on a tight budget, and in the short term, any additional expenses put us in dangerous territory.
This will be an ongoing battle, so we are asking for help and exploring every option we have available. All donations will be applied to Julia's care/support and any surplus, if any, will be donated to a cancer charity of Julia's choice to help others who are sharing her fight. She's a wonderful person and we want her to be able to focus on her recovery rather than trying to work during chemo to make ends meet (which she did through her first battle with this disease).
We can not do this alone. We will accept help of any kind, so if you have another way you'd like to contribute please let us know!
