My name is Hayley and I am raising money for my good friend Julia who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. As many of you know, Julia suffered a workplace accident in May 2023 resulting in her being unable to work while recovering. In January 2025, after over a year of physiotherapy and surgery to repair her ankle, Julia was able to return to work. A few short months later in May of 2025, she was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. This is triple positive breast cancer meaning it is fast growing and spreads easily.

On June 26, 2025, Julia underwent a double mastectomy with sentinal lymphnode removal. Recovery time from this is estimated to be 4 - 6 weeks before she is able to have reconstructive surgery. On July 8, 2025, during a follow-up visit, Julia found out that the cancer had spread to other lymphnodes and her armpit. She will be undergoing yet another surgery on July 24th to remove this and anywhere else it may have spread to (results pending). This additional surgery will put her back to the beginning of her recovery time.

Julia is a single mother of three children and the sole source of income for her family. She is ineligible for EI benefits as she hasn't earned enough hours since returning to work. She has applied for short term disability benefits through work but they haven't come through yet.

I am hoping to raise money for Julia to ease the financial strain while recovers. These funds will be used to cover basic living expenses such as rent, utilities, groceries, car payments and insurance and allow her to focus on healing.
