My name is Julez, and I’m reaching out for support after a serious knee injury I suffered while performing drag in Chicago. My main job is serving, but since I can’t walk right now, I’ve lost my ability to work and earn an income. Drag is my creative outlet and side hustle, but it’s also on hold while I recover. This injury has made even daily tasks and getting around the city extremely difficult, and I’ve had to put my life on pause to focus on healing.
The cost of my diagnosis was a major setback, and I’m struggling to cover basic living expenses while I rest and recover. On top of this, I’m preparing to move to Canada to help my grandma as she transitions into a nursing home, and to seek a safer life for myself as a trans person. A recent experience being harassed on the red line in Chicago made it clear that I need to prioritize my safety and well-being. This move is urgent, but it comes with extra costs and uncertainty.
Your support will help me pay for rent, medical bills, groceries, and other essentials while I heal and make this important transition. Every contribution will make a real difference as I work toward recovery and a safer future. Thank you for considering helping me during this challenging time.
