Help Me Get Home For South African Nationals

Hi, my name is Julia Vincent, or Jules to most people I know. I am going to try to keep this short as to not waste anyone’s time but I’m in need of a little help. I want to be completely transparent and honest with anyone that takes the time to read this, so you should know that this is a really hard thing for me to do. Asking for help financially isn’t exactly the most comfortable thing for anyone to do, so this might go without saying but this decision came with a lot of deliberation. Before I continue, I want to thank anyone who is able to contribute no matter how small or big, anything at all will make a difference.

Okay, so to cut right to the chase, I am trying to raise some funds to assist me in getting back to South Africa this coming April to compete in my National Qualification Competition. If I do not get home to compete in April, I will not have the opportunity to qualify to represent South Africa at the 2022 World Championships and Commonwealth Games this upcoming summer, nor will I be eligible for selection to any national team in 2023 per my federation’s qualification criteria. Being eligible for team selection in 2023 is crucial for qualification purposes in 2024 for the Paris Olympic Games. The funds would not only go towards getting me home for Nationals but would also assist me in the travel expenses that come with traveling to Hungary for the Diving World Championship event and Birmingham, UK, for Commonwealth Games taking place later on this year.

It might be known to some at this point, but for those that are not aware, after the Tokyo Olympics I had some unplanned disruptions in my training and made the decision to move and continue training at a different training facility within the US. Unfortunately, moving is expensive and has set me back financially a little, hence my decision to turn to GoFundMe to raise some funds.

As I mentioned above, any contribution even down to a single dollar would be helpful and so very much appreciated, not only for competition purposes but also to help me reunite with my family. It has been a few years since I’ve been home to hug Mama Cress and my brother, Nick, due to COVID restrictions and making it home would bring us all together again.

Once more, I want to thank anyone that is able to contribute and for those who are not financially in a position to do that, I completely understand and just appreciate you reading this far.
