Help Jules get back to his zoomies!!!

Donation protected
As cliché as it sounds, I never expected I would be in a position where I need to ask for this sort of assistance…. I am truly heartbroken that so many before me have had to face such extreme financial hardships to help a pet or family member. Even if you are unable to financially contribute, it would mean the world to myself and my family if you could take a moment to share our story.

My name is Sydney and I want you to meet my doggo Jules! In 2016, I relocated from Massachusetts to Washington DC for work. I met Jules through a rescue I volunteered at in DC and it was love at first sight! Jules is the sweetest, most loving dog and has brought so much happiness to my life. Although relocating to a new area away from my family and friends was extremely difficult, Jules got me through it, and I often ask myself “who rescued who??”. Jules has truly become the center of my universe and is now my fiancée’s best friend as well.

Last year, my fiancée and I obtained pet insurance for Jules, however Jules began suffering from severe environmental allergies and his insurance would not cover his very expensive allergy and skincare regimen. We had to make the difficult decision to discontinue Jules’ pet insurance to avoid financial strain. In lieu of pet insurance, we opted into our vet's 'paw plan', which provides coverage of appointment costs and discounts for his allergy treatments. Fast-forward to Christmas Day this year, Jules suffered an injury to his leg and after various failed treatments, imaging revealed Jules will require surgery to repair torn ligaments in both of his hind legs. His vet does not perform this procedure, so without the assistance of his paw plan or pet insurance, we will have to pay for the costs out of pocket.

We are estimating surgery on both legs will cost between $10,000-$11,000, an amount that I am not sure anyone can be financially prepared for. Due to his worsening symptoms and failed treatments, his surgeries will need to occur soon. His first surgery will occur in late February or early March, there will be an 8-10 week recovery period, then he will have his second surgery. Because of the limited window of time we have to prepare, we are exploring every avenue for assistance which led us to GoFundMe. Any help you can provide is appreciated more than we can say, Jules is our best friend, and we just want him to get better!! Thank you for taking the time to read our story and helping us to get Jules back to his zoomies!!
