Hello all! I am Julia - but go by the name "Juju." And today I am reaching out for my new kitty "Sir Percival Max" - aka "Percy."

I recently had the (mis)fortune of discovering a feral kitten trapped behind a planter in my back yard. After rescuing him, a veterinarian examined him and was able to help me get started with bottle feeding the kitten. The first 2 days that I hovered around him, feeding him just a bit when he was awake; I thought I was going to lose him, but at least he wouldn't die alone.

Percy's been in my bedroom for the past 2 weeks, sharing my bed. I only have him in the cat carrier when I am asleep, so I needn't fear rolling onto the baby! He is still only eating the milk-replacement formula but his teeth are starting to come in and that brings me to the next problem: how can I afford to feed/keep him as my own cat.

I am disabled with life-long issues of epilepsy and being legally blind (as the result of some brain surgery I had about a decade ago). My monthly check from social security is $1,034; which is enough to make sure that I always have 2 meals to eat, per day, and also gives me the means to feed my two elderly rabbits.

My primary investigation suggests that it can cost about $20-40 of cat food per month (of higher quality). If I aim for a "modest" monthly food expense, and add to that an amount that I stash aside for future material needs, as well as for future vet check-ups. I think it will make sense to ask for donations that combine to bring me a $50 per month that I can put aside entirely for Percy.

NOTE: I hope to receive the total of $50 of the donations per month, but I also intend to donate $18 per month to a local animal organization in the honor of Ms. Tabby-Puss; a local feral cat who I am convinced is my Percy's biological mother.
