Help Juice Beat Cancer

With Juice it was love at first sight. Yes, of course there were ups and downs, like there would be with any rescue or love affair, but our hearts instantly burst full once we saw our devastatingly handsome tan cinnamon roll hop out of the van on a warm August night in 2020. We found Juice through a rescue service that saved him from being a stray in Arkansas. While it started out as just a short-term foster, we instantly knew that we had no choice but to officially welcome him into our lives permanently. While he is not without his flaws, to us he is perfect. Once he finally settled in, we were so excited to have him be a part of our forever. Taking him on road trips, buying a house with a yard for him to run around in, having him play with our kids way down the line were all ideas that we were looking forward to making a reality.
Unfortunately, all that is now being challenged.
After taking Juice in for a routine vet appointment 3 weeks ago, we were given the traumatic news that he had a tumor in his abdomen that they thought was in his spleen. He went into surgery the next day and after opening him up, they discovered that the tumor was too large to immediately remove and was actually closer to his colon. The biopsy that came back was inconclusive but after taking him to get a CT Scan at the University of Illinois' vet school they confirmed what we feared most. Cancer.
As of this writing, we still don't know exactly what his diagnosis is. What we know is that whatever type of cancer he has would be rare for a 15 year old dog with deteriorating health. For a 2 1/2 year old dog with overall decent health it is unheard of.
If you have made it this far, Thank You. The doctors have thrown out timelines that we refuse to believe and potential outcomes we refuse to accept. We are committed to finding our Juice the best care and treatment available, regardless of cost. We are starting this fund because we are determined to keep Juice with us as long as possible. Every cent of your generous contribution will go towards helping us get him the best possible treatment and care we can find.
Please – If you have any connections to a Board Certified Animal Surgeon who would be willing to review his condition and potentially do a surgery to remove the tumor please DM me - I would love to talk!
Juice is our whole heart and we truly can not imagine our lives without him. He is as much a part of our family as our parents or siblings. Please take a look at the pictures below. He is just too damn cute to leave us yet. He is the strongest dog on the planet and any contribution you make, he will repay by fighting his tail off to stay with us for as long as he can. This is the first step in what will likely be a very hard and challenging road for Andrea and I. Every little bit is appreciated. He’s not done yet.
Estimates around the cost of his care are around $10,000. Any unused funds will be donated directly to One Tail At A Time Rescue: https://www.onetail.org/
