My name is a Jesse, I am a single mother of my 15 year old son Juelz. Our lives have been forever changed & affected as the result of gun violence. My son is a victim of a violent crime that has left him in the ICU with multiple life threatening injuries. He has had 7 surgeries to stabilize him & to make repairs where medically necessary.

Of the injuries sustained the most detrimental ones are Acute Tubular Necrosis where he is needing the help of dialysis to work for his kidneys. The most harrowing injury sustained is a T7 fracture of his spinal cord resulting in paraplegia which will more than likely require relocation to an inpatient rehabilitation facility that specializes in SCI.

I am the sole caretaker & provider for my son as well as myself. We have a very long journey ahead of us, I am eternally grateful for my son still being alive. Though I am scared & stressed for what life is going to look like after this for us both. He is going to need long term care as well as accommodations for his needs once he is discharged from all forms of care. Wheelchairs/ramps etc. We also will need to rehome.
