The farm where Judy and Jon live has been owned by Jon's family since 1947. Over the years, five generations of the family have lived on the farm. They have been protected by tax increases over most of this period by Proposition 13 which maintained a stable tax rate.

San Bernardino County as of now has rescinded their Prop 13 status. They have not been given a reason for this and they have been working to get their status restored. As of now they have not been successful. The tax increase was substantial and they are being asked to pay the increase to cover last year and this year.

Both Judy and Jon are disabled and on a very limited income. Jon's son, who has multiple sclerosis also lives on the property with them. The property tax increase is crippling them financially and they are on the verge of losing the family farm, their beloved home.
