My roommate and dear friend, Judy, has spent many years helping people and animals through her healing work, including her work with dogs and horses. She has always been someone who cares deeply for others, but she has not had much of a financial safety net for her own health and dental care.

When I started this fundraiser last year, Judy was facing significant dental problems. Thanks to the generosity of many friends and family, Judy was able to pay her outstanding bill. She was able to purchase a year of dental insurance, which covered much of her care including cleanings and fillings.

Unfortunately, her health-related expenses have not ended there. We are now hoping to raise another $4,500 to help Judy with her dental, vision, and mental-health care expenses that need immediate attention.

Judy needs to pay next year’s dental insurance premium to continue the regular periodontal care she requires. She also has to pay the remainder of a current bill not covered by her dental insurance.

Judy’s vision is changing, and she needs new lenses for two sets of glasses, costs that are not covered by her Medicare insurance.

She has also been dealing with another unexpected expense: her Medicare Advantage plan previously covered her mental health care, but since the beginning of this summer, that coverage has been denied. Despite repeated efforts to resolve the issue, the insurance company has not provided answers, leaving her ability to continue receiving this important care uncertain. She has a large outstanding bill unresolved.

These expenses are difficult for Judy to manage while also maintaining everyday living expenses. I am committed to continuing this fundraiser to help her with these important health-related costs and give her some much-needed breathing room.
