Help Judy Montgomery and Carey Williams recovery

PLEASE READ FURTHER BELOW THIS SECTION SO THAT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE FULL STORY OF WHAT YOUR WONDERFUL FRIEND AND OUR BELOVED MOM, JUDY MONTGOMERY AND HER SWEET SWEET DAUGHTER, CAREY WILLIAMS, HAVE GONE THROUGH. YOU ARE OUR WONDERFUL FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND TOGETHER YOU AND I CAN DO THIS! PLEASE I NEED YOUR CONNECTIONS! LETS MAKE OUR OWN UNIQUE AND AMAZING STORY TOGETHER. WE GOT THIS LET’S DO IT!

This has all been so very difficult. have done everything they’ve told me to do. I  have applied for food stamps for my mother and my sister, never heard back. I’ve contacted every government agency that is out there that is supposed to help people who are disabled or the elderly on Medicare and no one ever responds other than putting you on a waiting list from which they never call. I don’t even know what I am supposed to do anymore I cannot keep doing this by myself. We can’t even move back to Georgia as long as Carey keeps having these awful back infections. We just want to go back to my mom’s house in Georgia but we can’t afford to remodel it to make it handicap accessible. We would need to put 2 bedrooms and a full bathroom  on the lower level for them and the carpet is original to the house and not safe for their respiratory issues. We really need to get Carey back to Georgia especially because the Florida doctors do not want to come near the metal in her back since they didn’t perform her original surgery.

Please I implore you to read their full story below. I really want everyone to know their incredible journey and inconceivable, unimaginable yet true story, as I will never give up trying to make their lives better and more manageable.

I am having a great deal of trouble buying groceries and continuing mom‘s physical therapy and getting all the supplies she needs due to her limited income and the limits on Medicare. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated and we thank you so much for your love, support and prayers. ❤️
I’m also trying to apply for food stamps for mom but it is a long process. If I could use that for groceries it would free up some money for her physical therapy. Any gifts you would like to send to help them would be so very appreciated. Or if you want to help in other ways, we usually use Publix since it is only a mile away so if anyone wishes to give them the gift of a Publix gift card (or Walmart or Sam’s, Walgreens etc. we have Winn Dixie here too), that would help tremendously. We also have Zelle and Venmo accounts set up, please feel free to message me privately if you wish.

We have always loved Covington and living and growing up there. It is so very special to us. I never knew how many people loved us right back ❤️, and once something like this happens you see how many truly wonderful people are in your life and how they care so deeply about the family. Thank you Covington, Oxford, our church, and all our friends and family for loving us, praying for us, the cards, the donations and the phone calls. It means so so much. ~ Janet Barnhardt

This GoFundMe account has been established by the family to help raise money for medical bills and necessities for Judy Montgomery and Carey Williams.

As most of you are aware, both Judy and Carey (my mother and my sister, respectively) had extremely horrible cases of covid in 2020.

My sister Carey is now constantly in the hospital for infections in her back. She had surgery on her back at the end of 2019 due to an auto-immune disorder she has called ankylosing spondilitis. The area where she had the surgery has become infected several times since the surgery. She is in constant pain, and every time we think she has the infection wiped out, she gets another one. Her back surgery was followed by a horrific, nightmarish case of Covid in early April of 2020 where she was on a ventilator for 2 months and we nearly lost her. I will never ever forget the FaceTime call I had with her just before they put her on the ventilator, we were both crying and I thought it was the last time I would ever speak to her. At the time there were so very many people who had Covid on ventilators and all they showed on the news was how people were not coming off of them. Once she was ready to finally come off the ventilator, they cut a hole in her throat and performed a tracheostomy so she could breathe through a tube in her throat. She couldn’t even talk, and she would try to mouth words to us on FaceTime but it was difficult to understand her. A small part of one of her lungs had fluid in it that could not be drained without surgery but the surgery was too dangerous so now it has hardened and she has lost a portion of that lung. She now has to be on oxygen full time, dragging a large oxygen tank with us every time we leave the house to see a doctor because she can’t even get a small portable oxygen generator to carry even though Medicaid should pay for it. Due to the extensive costs she incurs every time she is hospitalized, as well as the home care nurse and all the supplies she requires, she has a very difficult time covering these expenses.

My mother, Judy Montgomery, also contracted Covid in April of 2020. Prior to getting Covid she ran her own business full-time and was an avid runner who would walk and run 3 to 5 miles per day and loved to participate in 5k runs like the Covington Fuzz run and anything else she could find! Sadly, after Covid she is now fully disabled, can only walk with a walker, and has to have physical therapy several times per week. She should be having it daily but medicare will only pay for someone to come 2 times a week, and any physical therapy visits over twice per week have to be paid out of pocket as she is still having trouble with walking. I try to walk with her whenever I can, unfortunately between coordinating and taking them to doctor visits and the housekeeping, cooking and making sure they get good meals and caretaking it can be difficult to find time. She has other medically necessary expenses which she is not able to cover.

I am hoping to get this story out to the Today Show, Ellen DeGeneres, and all the other shows where I have seen similar stories like this and they have helped people like my mom and my sister. If anyone has any connections to help me get the story out please please please let me know. Perhaps we could get lucky and find a company that would be willing to help renovate mom’s house so they can live there again or maybe a company that would donate electric scooters to them so they can actually go out sometimes for something besides a doctor appointment. I’m Janet Montgomery Barnhardt and my parents taught me to never give up and I won’t! Believe me my friends when I tell you this long hauler Covid syndrome is real. My mom and my sister cannot smell or taste, they cannot walk, Carey has constant nightmares from when she was on the ventilator and after when she had the tracheostomy and she cries nearly every single day from the memories and the continuing pain. She has PTSD now. She heard so many “code blue” calls in the hospital that it was traumatizing.
I will not give up on finding help for them.

This GoFundMe account was established to help both Judy and Carey with all of these expenses. It is critical that they both receive the care they need in order to be able to lead somewhat normal lives. Please, if you are able to help, every penny will go to their needs and necessities.

Please pray for their recovery, and thank you in advance for any contribution you can make.  If you would rather send a donation our current address is;
