Help Judy Freed with Medical Expenses
Donation protected
I have a very dear friend, Judy Freed, (a Playback Theater member, experiential therapist, body percussionist, and singer-songwriter) who has suffered a severe break to her left wrist that has required surgery. Her arm will be immobilized for a couple of months if not longer and will require on-going physical therapy and doctor’s visits. All of these require a co-pay. Her prescriptions are not covered at all. The broken wrist has forced her to hire an aide for such tasks as bathing and dressing, simple cooking, and home help. The cost is $20 per hour.
Judy’s life is further compromised by MCS (multiple chemical sensitivity), a condition that has literally quarantined her for more than ten years. She is supported through Social Security Disability Income (SSDI), but that does not cover, even in ordinary times, her basic needs. Due to her injury and surgery, her ability to supplement this income is very limited.
Finally, because she cannot drive, and because of her MCS, Judy must hire this same aide for all her transportation needs. This aide is the one person Judy has been able to find who can safely help her because the aide has MCS also.
Judy’s current out-of-pocket expenses have come to more $2000. We are seeking help to cover these bills and to defray anticipated expenses in the months ahead. These are impossible to estimate, but our initial ask for her of $5000 for her. Thank you.
