Help Judy and Thomas Doucette Rebuild Their Lives After Devastating Fire

Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

On Tuesday, July 16th, dear friends Judy (75) and Thomas Doucette (80) faced a heart-wrenching tragedy when their condo was destroyed in a devastating fire at the Bluestone Dr. complex in Nashua, NH. As reported in the news, the fire impacted 29 apartment units, leaving many families, including Judy and Thomas, displaced and in desperate need of support. https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/29-apartment-units-damaged-or-destroyed-following-building-fire-nashua-nh-red-cross-says/AT7PIPP34VH3TPGB4CBCRGLNBM/

Judy and Thomas have been vital members of their community, but now they face a daunting situation. Their condo, their cherished home for years, will not be ready for occupancy until the end of December, assuming everything goes smoothly. Meanwhile, their homeowners' insurance will only cover their extended stay hotel until the second week of October. After this coverage expires, they risk losing their temporary housing while still being responsible for their mortgage, condo fees, and other costs. Judy and Tom had to pack up what was left of their beloved items and family memories over an entire lifetime..

Here’s where we need your help:

The total cost of their extended stay hotel, transportation, and other urgent expenses amounts to $13,000. With their insurance benefits running out, Judy and Thomas are struggling to manage these expenses. They had initially planned to move in with Tom’s daughter, Robin, but Judy’s critical care needs (due to being both handicapped and disabled) and reliance on a specific insurance plan, CFI Choices for Independence, make this move impractical. Moving to Massachusetts—even temporarily—would result in a lose of this insurance and Judy’s access to essential medical care and delay the reinstatement of these crucial benefits, adding to their stress and financial burden.

Thomas Doucette has been an extraordinary source of support and inspiration to many, including myself. During some of the darkest moments in my life, Tom's guidance and support through his DBSA Nashua Chapter were transformative. As the Founder and President of DBSA Nashua for over twenty years, a peer support group dedicated to helping individuals with depression and bipolar disorder, Tom has changed countless lives. His group provides a safe space for people to share their struggles, find hope, and learn coping skills. Tom’s compassionate leadership and tireless efforts have been a lifeline for many, including myself. His support gave me strength and a voice when I felt I had none, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

Now, Judy and Thomas need our support. After dedicating their lives to helping others and building a strong community, they deserve to find stability and comfort during this difficult time. We are reaching out to ask for your generosity to help cover their immediate expenses and alleviate their financial stress as they navigate this challenging period.

Please consider donating to help Judy and Thomas during this trying time. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. Your support will provide them with the peace of mind they need and show them that their community stands with them in their time of need.

Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support. Together, we can help Judy and Thomas focus on their recovery and eventual return to their home without the added stress of financial strain.

With heartfelt gratitude,
