Hello friends and family,
On Tuesday February 16, 2021, Judy was in a terrible car accident right outside her gated community in Indio, CA. Her car was completely totaled and suffered from many injuries including a broken collar bone and 4 broken ribs.
She was able to come home from the hospital on Tuesday night, but she knew something wasn't right and ended up going to the emergency room again on Thursday. The hospital took further tests and sent her home. Over the following weekend Judy started experiencing severe dementia, so her son, Scott, took her back to the Hospital on Sunday evening, February 21, 2021. The doctors discovered that her kidneys were in renal failure and had to start the reverse process right away. Although her kidneys are doing slightly better, her dementia is still prominent. She can barely speak and isn't aware of her surroundings or why she is in the hospital. The doctors are still unsure of what caused the dementia or if can be treated. They diagnosed her with a possible cause of toxic encephalopathy, which causes swelling in the brain, but they are still running tests to figure out the exact problem. She is currently still in the hospital and we don't know how long she'll be there or how long she'll need assisted care (full time). The worst part of it all is Scott or Maddy (her granddaughter) cannot be with her in the hospital due to COVID-19.
We're completely in a state of shock and are devastated about the fact that her memory or cognitive might not come back to her normal state - any time soon or even possibly for the rest of her life. She's also going to take several months to recover just from her other injuries and we simply cannot take care of her alone. Judy is loved by so many, so we thought making a Go Fund Me would help Scott (her son) with any finances for medical bills, assisted care or living, and just any other surprise expenses that may come along the way in this unexpected time. If you are not in a place where you can donate, your prayers and positive thoughts are much appreciated in these trying times.
