Help Judith & Joel recover from devastating fire
My sister Judith Gould, husband Joel, and amazing kids Franklin and Eleanor suffered a tragedy this week, and I'm asking for your help to get them through it.
A devastating wildfire swept through their California town and burned their house and nearly all of its contents to the ground. If you've watched the footage of these fires on TV, you saw how quickly they spread and how unpredictable they can be.
Judy and Joel moved just months ago to the place of their dreams: a collectively-owned intentional community on 414 acres in the Mayacamas Mountains. But just days ago, they got the word they had to evacuate immediately to escape the encroaching Shady Fire (the picture below is a view from their window). They stuffed whatever they could fit into their two cars - including their two guinea pigs - but were forced to leave the rest. They could only take essential items and nearly all of their memorabilia had to be left behind. All of it is now gone - and there's no insurance to absorb the financial blow.
The family is staying with friends temporarily, but will soon have to begin finding and setting up a new home. They need just about everything, so financial contributions are needed now to help them get reestablished, such as clothing, personal items, and furniture. Please contribute what you can to help Judy, Joel, Eleanor, and Franklin - no donation is too small!
(For fraud prevention purposes, GoFundMe would like me to tell you that I'm Suzanne Alden from Barrington, Rhode Island - miles away from the Goulds but committed to helping them rebuild their lives with the help of our friends and family.)
