Help Judi make a full recovery
One week ago, Judi’s day started like most others – a quiet morning with a cup of coffee on the front porch. Judi did not realize that she would be airlifted to MUSC’s ICU where she would awaken after suffering a severe stroke in the left side of her brain. Judi’s neighbor, April, happened to be coming over to speak with her roommate and found Judi slumped over on the porch. Luckily, she arrived in just enough time to call the paramedics. Judi’s children, Kyle and Nora, were contacted and quickly jumped in their cars with their significant others to drive from Chicago to Charleston to be with Judi. Unfortunately, Judi is uninsured and is going to need a significant amount of speech and physical therapy as she works to regain her speech and strength in her right side. Nora and her fiancé, Dan, are temporarily staying with Judi as she cannot live independently right now. Kyle and Sarah have returned to Chicago to research the best options for Judi’s long term recovery and to be with his daughter, Aubrie.
The bills are already mounting and we want to do everything in our power to help this wonderful woman. She volunteers with Gold Star Mothers, mothers who have lost loved ones in the military. She volunteers with the Red Cross, where Judi helps send information to military members from their families if an emergency arises back home. The work she does voluntarily impacts so many people in a positive way. But as for work, Judi has been part of the Graphic Arts field editing a magazine while waiting for a TSA position. We are now uncertain as to Judi’s long term prognosis for going back to work.
All funds raised will be used for Judi’s on-going care and to assist her children in being able to provide the best care possible for their mother.
