On Tuesday, November 25th, my nephew Judah and four co-workers were driving from work in Phoenix to Los Angeles to celebrate Thanksgiving with their family and friends. Judah was riding in the backseat when the driver, tired from the trip, fell asleep at the wheel. Their car collided with a semi-trailer, and Judah was severely injured. He was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where he's been in the intensive care unit ever since. Judah suffered multiple fractures to his skull, including his forehead, nasal bones, and jawbones. He also sustained a traumatic brain injury, and his spinal fluid is leaking. Judah now faces brain surgery and facial reconstructive surgery, both scheduled for December 2nd. His recovery is expected to take at least several months.
Judah's mother (my sister Dion), and his grandmother (my mom Virginia), have temporarily relocated from L.A. to Palm Springs to be by his side, and make critical decisions and advocate for his care. This has meant stepping away from work. The financial burden of medical bills and lost income is overwhelming.
We are reaching out to ask for your prayers for Judah's successful surgery and full recovery. If you are able to make a donation, it will help lighten their load and worry so they can focus on Judah's recovery. Thank you for your kindness and support.
