Hi, my name is Juan, and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest moments I’ve faced — physically, emotionally, and as a father.

Not long ago, I was assaulted for standing up for my young nephews’ safety. Their father — my brother-in-law — came to pick them up. While he was sober, two other people in the car were clearly under the influence. I told them I wasn’t comfortable letting the kids leave in that condition. One of the cousins became hostile, asking who I was to say anything. I told him, “I’m their uncle,” and from there, things escalated fast.

I was ambushed and attacked by the men, resulting in a fractured nose that requires surgery, and abrasions to my knee. I’ve been placed on medical leave and can’t return to work until after July 3, 2025.

But what hurts even more is that my three children and nephews saw the entire attack. No child should ever have to witness their parent being hurt. Since then, we’ve all been affected — emotionally and mentally. I’m doing my best to stay strong for them while also dealing with my own physical recovery and the trauma we all now carry.

This fundraiser is to help me cover:

• Surgery and medical care

• Counseling and emotional support for my kids

• Essential bills and living expenses while I’m out of work

• Any legal steps I may need to take to protect my family
