My name is Joseph Juarez, and I’m writing this on behalf of my family during an incredibly difficult and unexpected time.

On January 16th, my father, Juan Juarez, was recently detained by ICE while coming home from work. This happened despite the fact that he has been in the process of obtaining citizenship and had secured permission to be in the United States due to being the victim of a violent assault and robbery and has been a hardworking and active member of the San Diego community for 25 years.

My dad is the main provider for our family, especially for my mother, who has been bravely battling Ankylosing Spondylitis and Cancer. Due to her health, she is limited in her ability to work. The job my father is currently unable to return to is also the source of our family’s health insurance—insurance my mom depends on to access her critical medications and ongoing care.

With my father detained, we are facing urgent legal expenses, including attorney fees, as well as essential emergency costs to ensure my mother can continue receiving the healthcare she needs. Our immediate goal is to secure legal support so my father can return home as soon as possible to help aid my mother.

This situation has turned our lives upside down. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward legal representation and essential healthcare-related expenses during this crisis. Mi nombre es Joseph Juarez, y escribo este mensaje en nombre de mi familia durante un momento increíblemente difícil e inesperado.

Con mi padre detenido, estamos enfrentando gastos legales urgentes, incluidos honorarios de abogados, así como costos de emergencia esenciales para garantizar que mi madre pueda seguir recibiendo la atención médica que necesita.
