UPDATE 10/17/2022:
Manuel was taken to the hospital on 9/4 and has been in the hospital for seven weeks. Three of those weeks were spent in ICU in critical condition. He was then transferred to Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital, where he remains as of today (10/17). He was diagnosed with a severe UTI, which led to sepsis. His already compromised immune system (while on Immunotherapy Treatment) became severely dangerous and life-threatening and slowly started to affect all of his organs. While at the hospital, he also had COVID, which further complicated his health and became life-threatening. Manuel is finally doing better today but has weeks of physical, occupational, and speech therapy (because of the feeding tube) ahead of him to recuperate. He is taking baby steps now on his road to recovery. We give Thanks to our God first and foremost, and we thank you for your prayers. We know that because of your care and prayed for our brother, he is here with us today. We celebrated his 60th Birthday yesterday(10/16). Thank you !!
We, the siblings of Juan Manuel, have started this GoFundMe page for our brother. The funds will help finance his chemo treatments and medical bills that have been incurred and will continue beyond his expected surgery. He was very recently diagnosed with cancer. Manuel started feeling ill last October and had surgery to remove a tumor in late December. The doctor inserted a stint between his kidney and bladder. In February, he received the news that he has Stage 2 Bladder Cancer, which is very aggressive.
A little background:
If you know Manuel, you know he is a quiet man. Manuel worked as the Event Coordinator at the Galvan House with the City of Corpus Christi for 29 years. He Retired in 2019 to help his wife, Carmen care for their 8-year-old son. John Anthony, who is Autistic, is the light of his life and does not understand why Dada is not himself.
Manuel is so heartbroken and afraid of his diagnosis but remains optimistic. He will begin Chemo the following week before surgery, and in 3 to 4 months, he will undergo extensive reconstruction surgery. He is strong and faithful but understandably scared and sad at the same time.
Please help us raise money to help Juan Manuel and his family. Please keep Juan Manuel and his family in your prayers if you cannot donate. I will be managing the donations for the family on behalf of Manuel, his family, and my siblings. If you prefer to donate using Venmo, please send it to @Irma-SanMiguel-1
God Bless
Irma San Miguel (sister).
