Help Juan Manuel beat Cancer: Leukemia

My name is Lisa Bustamante and I’m making this Go Fund me page on behalf of my 21 year old baby brother Juan Manuel Almonte. April 18, 2023, for my 28th birthday, my little brother was taken to Saint Mary’s emergency room by our aunt so that he can get a doctor’s note, as he had been out sick from work with what he thought was the stomach bug. He needed a doctor’s note to make sure he didn’t get in trouble at work for missing so many days due to illness. When he went to the emergency room, the doctor ordered bloodwork as part of his check up and saw that his hemoglobin was very low. It was then that my brother was admitted to the hospital because he was in need of a blood transfusion to up his hemoglobin. My brother didn’t think much of this, since he just thought that he simply had a really bad stomach flu and had been overtired from working so much. After his first transfusion, he ended up needing a second one and then a third one which caused the doctors to grow suspicious. After several tests and an eventual bone marrow biopsy, to our surprise, my brother was diagnosed with Leukemia. His official diagnosis is Philadelphia Chromosome Negative B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

We have this Go Fund Me in hopes of getting financial help for Juan Manuel. He just moved out and got his own apartment 9 months ago, and with this cancer diagnosis, he is stuck in a hospital receiving chemotherapy and unable to work. The chemo will kill off all his bone marrow and leave him with no immune system in hopes to kill the cancer and go into remission. He, unfortunately, did not at work long enough to qualify for FMLA and resources for income do not cover the cost of his bills and needs. Instead of being afraid of whether he is going to live or die, all Juan Manuel can worry about is how he will pay his bills. He is worried about maintaining his apartment at least these last few months he has left on his lease while he is in the hospital. We ask if you can donate as much or as little as you can to help my brother be able to pay his bills, money for food and transportation and getting him what he needs as he spends the foreseeable future in the hospital. Most importantly, we ask for your continued prayers for healing and strength as we face this unbelievable obstacles and my brother continues the battle for his life.

Hola, mi nombre es Lisa Bustamante y estoy creando esta página de Go Fund me en nombre de mi hermanito de 21 años, Juan Manuel Almonte. El 18 de abril de 2023, para mi cumpleaños número 28, nuestra tía llevó a mi hermano pequeño a la sala de emergencias de Saint Mary para que pudiera obtener una nota del médico, ya que había estado fuera del trabajo enfermo con lo que pensó que era un virus estomacal. Necesitaba una nota del médico para asegurarse de que no se metiera en problemas en el trabajo por faltar tantos días debido a una enfermedad. Después de varias pruebas y una eventual biopsia de médula ósea, para nuestra sorpresa, a mi hermano le diagnosticaron leucemia. Su diagnóstico oficial es leucemia linfoblástica aguda de células B negativas del cromosoma Filadelfia.

Tenemos este Go Fund Me con la esperanza de obtener ayuda financiera para Juan Manuel. Se acaba de mudar y consiguió su propio apartamento hace 9 meses, y con este diagnóstico de cáncer, está atrapado en un hospital recibiendo quimioterapia y sin poder trabajar. La quimioterapia matará toda su médula ósea y lo dejará sin sistema inmunológico con la esperanza de matar el cáncer y entrar en remisión. Desafortunadamente, no estuvo en el trabajo el tiempo suficiente para calificar para FMLA y los recursos de ingresos no cubren el costo de sus facturas y necesidades. En lugar de tener miedo de si va a vivir o morir, lo único que le preocupa a Juan Manuel es cómo pagará sus cuentas. Está preocupado por mantener su apartamento al menos estos últimos meses que le quedan en su contrato de arrendamiento mientras está en el hospital. Le preguntamos si puede donar tanto o tan poco como pueda para ayudar a mi hermano a poder pagar sus cuentas, dinero para comida y transporte y conseguirle lo que necesita mientras pasa el futuro previsible en el hospital.
